With these visionary words in mind, Ms Himani Asija believes that every child at Ambience Public School contributes towards making a great nation; and the foundation for that is laid at school.
With her vast experience of 24 years of teaching Mathematics, she has spent 19 years with Delhi Public School Vasant Kunj as PGT Mathematics amongst which for two years she has led DPS Karnal as a Vice Principal cum officiating Principal.
Ms. Asija was awarded the National ICT Award from the then Hon. President of India Sh. Pranab Mukherjee in 2013. She has been a research student at Osaka Kyoiku University, Osaka, Japan under the Monbukagakushou Scholarship programme for in-service teachers.
A recipient of the Award for ‘All India Competition on Innovative Practices and Experiments for teachers and teacher educators’ by NCERT, Ms Asija has also been the Ideator (Project Head) of the CBSE International team for Grades grade 6 to 8. She has co-authored the Mathematics lessons for the same up to class 10.
She has represented India at the International level through Microsoft India in the ‘World Wide Innovative Educators’ Forum’ at Cape Town and in the ‘Partners in Learning Institute’ at Washington.
She has been a resource person for various workshops for in-service teachers organized by CBSE/SCERT and the Delhi Public School Society for the use of Technology in Mathematics. She is associated with C.I.E.T., N.C.E.R.T. for various projects undertaken for Mathematics and is a certified key resource person for the course on ICT in education, by CIET, NCERT.
Along with the 3 R’s of education i.e. Reading, Writing, Arithmetic; she strongly believes in the development of the 4C’s of the 21st century skills i.e. Critical Thinking, Collaboration, Communication and Creativity amongst the children. She is firmly rooted in the belief that teaching is not just imparting knowledge to expectant students but involves nurturing every child and being responsible for the social, emotional and physical well-being of each child. “The Important thing is not so much that every child should be taught, as that every child must be given the wish to learn.”

The Vice Principal Ms Shailesh Bhandari had an illustrious career as a Mathematics teacher spanning over 27 years. An alumnus of St Thomas’ School and Hansraj College in Delhi, Ms Bhandari holds a graduation degree in Science and Education and is a post graduate in English. A truly conscientious and immensely popular teacher, she started her teaching career with Holy Child School and moved to Delhi Public School, R K Puram She holds firm to the belief that students must experience their classrooms as invigorating and inspiring environments. Education must be a rich balance of classroom and out of class activities.
An ardent advocate of ‘learner centred’ education, she stands committed to the best practices and strategies that address continuous improvement, individual needs and provide guidance to students to become self-directed, life-long learners while ensuring that every child’s potential is achieved. Ms. Bhandari has both attended and conducted many workshops and training sessions in these areas. During her student days, she was an avid orator and won many prizes in debates and dramatics. She pursues many interests including literature and dance.
Sakshi Sethi, Consultant (Advisor & Trainer): Special Needs
A competent professional, Ms. Sakshi Sethi has close to 16 years’ experience of working and training children with learning difficulties in mainstream school setting. Ms. Sakshi Sethi is the Advisor for Special Needs Department at Ambience Public School, New Delhi. She is responsible for teaching and training the school staff on understanding and working with children with special needs.
She has been instrumental in setting up the special needs department at premier Institutes like Step By Step School, Noida, Amity International School, Saket amongst them. She was responsible for training, guiding and mentoring both special educators within her department and mainstream teachers. Sakshi feels “the need of the hour is to train mainstream teachers and should be taken up on a war footing by all schools”. An exceptionally talented and versatile teacher, Ms. Sakshi Sethi strongly believes in inclusion apart from providing specialized instructions to pupils with differential learning needs. She believes in children’s capacity to learn irrespective of how severely a child may be affected and her dedication and relentless work with children make her a role model.
A constant seeker and learner Sakshi is currently training to be a Certified Dyslexia Therapist. She is taking a two year Multisensory Structured Language Therapy Training Programme, ‘Sounds In Syllables’ for students who struggle with reading, writing and spelling. Sakshi has conducted many training workshops for special educators and mainstream teachers as well as helped shape policy and practice for special needs in mainstream school settings. Her workshops and training for parents and consistent, intense work with children have seen many children achieve success in learning.
Passionate about her work, she believes that all children, including those with special educational needs, have a right to school life.
